Lawton Ridge Winery

Lawton Ridge Winery Lawton Ridge Winery’s grapes are grown in the Lake Michigan Shore AVA - ideal conditions for “cool climate viticulture”. Warm days and cool nights allow the grapes to mature with the proper balance of sugar and acidity, giving crispness to our white wines and depth and complexity to our reds. Lake Michigan Shore is an American Viticultural Area located in the oldest grape region in the state.

  Cabernet Franc
A medium bodied dry wine, the 2007 Cabernet Franc was harvested on October 15 at 22.5 Brix. At the end of fermentation the wine was placed in oak barrels for 6 months. Time in wood allows the integration of the tannins and vanilla components from the oak. As a medium body dry wine, our Cabernet Franc presents flavors of dark fruit and has a lingering finish. It pairs well with dishes ranging from red meats to pizza.
  Chambourcin Rosé
Our 2007 Rosé is made from 80% Chambourcin and 20% Pinot Meunier. The grapes, grown at our vineyard in Lawton, were fermented and finished in stainless steeltanks. We finish our Rosé with s slight sweetness so it could be served with a meal or enjoyed by itself.
  Chardonnay
Our 2007 Chardonnay was fermented in stainless steel and finished in oak barrels for four months. Using older cooperage allowed aging without introducing dominant wood flavors while maintaining its fruitiness and crispness. This wine compliments seafood, fowl, pasta, and it is best when served slightly chilled.
  Cherry Red
Cherry Red is made from 100% Michigan cherries primarily, Balaton, a new hybrid from Hungary. It is made sweet so you remember Grandma’s pie.
  Country White
The Country White is made to compliment the lighter cuisines of summer or to be enjoyed on its own. This style of wine has a hint of sweetness and yet enough acidity to give a lingering finish. We recommend serving the wine chilled.
  KZOO Daily Red
Smooth and fruity and a little bit sweet. A nice sipping wine
  KZOO Daily White
This white is semidry white wine with a floral nose and apple fruit character is an easy sipping wine. Serve chilled
  Late Harvest Vignole
The Vignole for our 2007 late harvest wine came from our Lawton Ridge Vineyard. Harvested at 28 Brix, it was fermented in stainless steel tanks. The wine was finished with 7.01 Brix residual sugar leaving a sweetness that compliments the acidity of this rich fruity wine. A special treat with dessert or on its own.
  Pinot Gris
Our Pinot Gris is grown at our vineyard in Lawton, Michigan. We pressed the grapes as whole clusters then fermented and finished the wine in stainless steel to enhance its varietal characteristics. This wine was made to complement and enhance foods ranging from salads to salmon. We hope you enjoy our efforts.
  Riesling
Riesling is one of the great grape varieties, and is planted in all the major wine growing regions in the world. Our Riesling comes from vineyards in the Lake Michigan Shore AVA. This fruity wine has a hint of sweetness that balances the acidity. Best served chilled.
  Two Handed Red
Our Two Handed red is a fruity light bodied dry wine with mild tannins. We wanted an easy red that could find a place at the table with dishes that varied from vegetarian lasagna to hamburgers.
  Vidal Blanc Ice Wine
Ice wine requires unique timing, patience, and cold weather. This vintage was harvested at night on December 14, 2007, while the grapes were frozen. Pressing follows immediately, allowing the separation of the ice crystals from the juice. Sugar at harvest 34.7 Degrees Brix. Residual sugar at bottling, 20.3 Degrees Brix, TA 0.96, ph 3.58. Taste it and you will know the effort was worth it. This is a special treat.
