Today, the winery produces nearly 40,000 cases annually but still abides by the family philosophy - to produce natural, quality wines to share with family and friends. The family continues to oversee every phase of the winemaking process. Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
Produced from grapes grown in California’s famed Central Coast district including Monterey and San Luis Obispo Counties. Our winemaking team included 11% SLO Petite Sirah for additional color and finesse. The 2001 vintage opens with a display of lusciously ripe cassis/currant aromas with tantalizing hints of plum and white pepper lurking behind. A nicely balanced rich oak component frames the aromas and leads to a mouth filling finish with touch of anise, herbs, and lingering spice that excite the palate. This robust style red would be perfect to serve with steaks and robust cheeses. This wine should continue to develop in the bottle over the next 5 to 7 years. The 2001 vintage produced 1,150 cases.

Private Reserve Chardonnay
This Guglielmo (gool-YELL-mo) Private Reserve was produced from Chardonnay grown in the cool climate of Carneros in southern Sonoma County. On the palate an array of inviting tropical fruit and honeydew melon flavors emerge and linger into the well-balanced finish. Ideal to serve with an afternoon of baguettes and cheeses or a meal of linguine vongole. 100% barrel fermentation in one-third new 60-gallon cooperage accentuates toasted oak and vanilla aromas and complements the underlying floral essence. 100% malo-lactic fermentation introduces a buttery note to the nose and lends to the creamy style of this wine. This style of Chardonnay is best enjoyed within two to three years of the vintage date. The release of the vintage 2002 Sonoma County Chardonnay totaled 632 cases.

Private Reserve Merlot
The 2001 vintage was produced from fruit grown in San Ysidro Vineyards in Southern Santa Clara County. This is our first Merlot release from this vineyard, and we are very pleased with the quality of fruit grown here. Our Private Reserve Merlot is aimed toward the stylistic goal of producing a big, mouth-filling Merlot that finishes with a velvety softness. The wine is packed with a nose-pleasing array of currant, black cherry and vanilla toast aromas. Expressive tannins and understated oak allow intriguing boysenberry fruit flavors to develop on the palate. This richly flavored wine is perfect for full-flavored fare including grilled steaks, lamb chops, or tomato-based pastas. This Santa Clara County Merlot should continue to gain additional complexities in the bottle for at least another 3 - 5 years. This 2001 bottling yielded approximately 700 cases.

Private Reserve Petite Sirah

This vineyard - first planted by our Grandfather some 60 years ago - produces Petite Sirah of unusual depth and character. The 2000 vintage opens in the glass with lovely ripe berry and grape aromas touched by a kiss of honey and spice. The sublime dark fruit and spice aromas follow through onto the palette where they are joined by subtle oak and firm tannins in a warm and resinous finish. Although very enjoyable now, this wine should continue to gain additional complexities in the bottle for at least another 5 –8 years. The 2000 vintage yielded approximately 1,000 cases.

Private Reserve Sangiovese
The Guglielmo family proudly offers this Cal-Italia wine in celebration of the rich Old World winemaking tradition. The Sangiovese is the predominate grape variety used to produce the Italian Chianti Classicos. Our 2003 Private Reserve Sangiovese was produced from grapes grown in our own Santa Clara Valley. After fermentation the wine was aged in American oak barrels for nine months. Our stylistic goal with the Sangiovese is a subtle oak background with an emphasis on the grape’s charming fruit components.
The wine opens in the glass with a vibrant & lively array of pomegranate and ripe plum aromas enhanced by a wisp of cedar. On the palate the dark fruit characters develop and evolve into a warm and lingering finish dusted with white pepper. It lends itself to a wide variety of foods including rare red meats, game birds, or spicy red-sauced pasta dishes. We produced 900 cases of this 2003 vintage.

These vineyards - first planted by our grandfather over 50 years ago - continue to produce an extremely deep-fruited Zinfandel. After initial racking from redwood tanks the wine was aged approximately one years in small 60-gallon French & American oak barrels. Displaying an exceptional balance of fruit, spice, and tannin, this wine is excellent with lamb, steak, spicy pasta dishes, and well aged cheeses
