Butler Winery & Vineyard

Butler Winery & Vineyard Since 1983, the Butler Winery has strived to produce high quality, award winning and enjoyable wines. Jim Butler, owner and winemaker, specializes in 12 fine dinner wines, all from Indiana-grown grapes. The winery also produces a cider and fruit wines. In 1992, Jim established a vineyard at his family's home located nine miles northeast of Bloomington. Winemaking now occurs in the cellar at the vineyard/winery. During your visit to the vineyard, enjoy the beautiful view from the spacious deck adjacent to the the vineyard tasting and sales room. Cellar tours are available upon request if the staff is not too busy. Fridays through Sundays the vineyard's Pizza Parlor is open for lunch and dinner. Menu items include pizzas, breadsticks, salads & yummy desserts! Hours: April - November: Wednesday and Thursday: Noon to 6pm Friday - Sunday: Noon to 8pm December - March: Friday - Sunday: Noon to 8pm

Directions to Winery/Vineyard from Indianapolis: Take SR-37 South. Shortly after you've passed Oliver Winery, Turn left onto Sample Rd. Wylie Floor Covering Warehouse is at corner. Follow Sample Rd. until it ends at Old 37. Go right for 1.25 miles. After bridge, take first left on Robinson Rd. (uphill). Rainbow Tent Rental Company on the left. Travel 3.4 miles. Winery/Vineyard is on right. Directions to Winery/Vineyard from In-Town Tasting Room: Take Walnut north to the 3rd light. Go right (Old 37). Go approximately 3.2 miles to Dolan (Rainbow Tent Rental Company on right). In Dolan, take Robinson Rd. (2nd road on right, uphill) 3.5 miles. Winery/Vineyard is on right.

  Black Currant
Made from Indiana-grown black currants. It has a rich, savory aroma that climbs right out of the glass! Each sip has loads of sweet cassis flavor. A great cooking wine.
Superb, rich blueberry character. Excellent dessert wine that even dry wine drinkers will enjoy. Lovely wine with cheesecake. Medal winner at the 2004 Indy International.

Smooth, dry red wine. Medium body; aged in oak for one year. Aroma has notes of cedar mixed with fresh bramble fruit. Blackberries & cherries on the palate make this wine very drinkable. Silver medal winner at the 2005 Indy International.

  Cassis Noir
Made from Indiana-grown black currants. We have taken our yummy black currant wine & added grape brandy to bring the alcohol up to about 20%. Excellent wine as dessert or a night cap. It doesn't take much of this wine to satisfy your palate :) 375 mL bottles only.
  Indiana Blush
Made from a blend of Vignoles, Chambourcin, Vidal & Chardonel. A real crowd pleaser! Medal winner at the 2004 Indy International.
  Indiana Red
Fruity red wine perfect for picnics. Nicely balanced with a lingering aftertaste of cherries. Made with Chambourcin grapes from our vineyard.
  Indiana White
Our most popular white wine. Peachy character stands out. A Chardonel and Vignoles blend. Enjoy chilled with fresh fruit, cheeses and salad on a hot summer day.

Light & fruity beaujolais-style wine made with grapes from our vineyard. Smooth and easy to drink. Nice wine with pasta.
  Sapsucker Draft Hard Cider
Semi-dry fermented apple cider made from a blend of tart apples grown in western Indiana. Light-bodied with fresh apple aroma & flavor and a tart finish. Sold in 1 liter flip top bottles.
  Vineyard Red
A sweet red wine with medium body and a luscious Concord grape character. Enjoy with sharp cheeses, pizza or chocolate. Silver medal winner at the 2006 Indy International.
  Vineyard Rosé
Made from Steuben. Its sweetness is balanced by a noticeable tartness. Medal winner at the 2006 Indy International.
  Vineyard White
A blend of Traminette & Cayuga, this medium-bodied sweet white has fruit & honey overtones. Very mellow flavor. Similar in style to sweeter German white wines. Silver Medal winner at the 2006 Indy International.
  White Select
Lighter bodied wine made from a blend of Indiana grown Chardonel & Vidal grapes. Has a nice fruity aroma and flavor. Pairs well with chicken, fish or pork.
