  Chardonnay
The wine is Estate grown and hand harvested. Each lot was vinified separately and then master blended to ensure lush character. This Chardonnay displays vivid aromas of ripe guava, apple, citrus, mineral and spice. The wine is richly textured with flavors of green apple, citrus zest and triple creme brie. A nice balance of acidity and richness culminate a long, rich finish. 2003 was a long growing season for the upper Arroyo Grande Valley, with warm day and cool nights - perfect for ripening Chardonnay to its maximum flavor and concentration. The grapes were hand picked from the fully sun exposed location of the sandy Thereza Vineyard. The fruit was whole cluster pressed to capture all of the complexity and character of our terroir. The juice was chilled and racked to French oak barrels where it under went 100% malolactic fermentation. It was sur lie aged in 20% new French oak for 12 months before bottling.
  Dry Farm Zinfandel
This wine celebrates the hard work and dedication it takes to dry farm a vineyard. With deep extraction, this wine displays the finest elegance of Zinfandel fruit expression. The aromas of raspberry, plum, earthiness and black pepper are accented be nuances of toasty oak and spice. The rich fruit expression leads to a long, rich, delicate, velvety finish.
  Ian Cuvee
The wine is beautifully expressive and displays aromas of ripe berries, plum, and rich chocolate, mingled with cassis and a touch of smokiness. The flavors are dark cherry, blueberry, white chocolate and spice. This wine is well balanced, with luscious tannins and a long, rich finish. 89% Syrah, 4% Grenache, 7% Mourvèdre
  Syrah
The Syrah was aged in 45% new French oak barrels for 11 months. It was racked twice before bottling to ensure quality without compromising the true character of the fruit.
  Syrah Reserve
Over 1200 barrels of our estate-grown Syrah were carefully monitored and tasted before making the selection for this wine. This wine was aged 20 months in 45% new French oak before master blending, and then aged in mature French oak barrels until bottling in May 2004. The Private Reserve Syrah is already showing nicely, but will age gracefully for five to seven years.
  Syrah Rose
This rose was birthed out of Rancho Arroyo Grande's appreciation for a beautiful, dry rose. This wine is perfect to enjoy on a warm afternoon at the ranch. This wine is predominantly Syrah, lending to its fragrant nose of plum blossoms, raspberries, and red currants. The Grenache adds some strawberry and loganberry notes. The Mourvedre adds some structure and texture. Rancho’s Syrah Rose was fermented in stainless tanks to preserve the fruit.
  Thereza Cuvee
Hand selected lot of each varietal were fermented separately in small open top fermenters for 15 days to allow maximum concentration of the fruit's character. The Syrah was aged in 45% new French oak, the Mourvedre was aged in 20% new French oak and the Grenache and Counoise were aged in slightly older French oak barrels to retain more of the natural fruitiness. Each varietal was barreled down separately for 10 months before master blending. 37% Syrah, 33% Mourvedre, 15% Grenache, 15% Counoise
  Viognier
This is the first year that Rancho has kept the Vioginer from Thereza’s vineyard separate and made its own wine. Previously, it had been co-fermented with the Syrah, but after tasting the character of the grapes, who wouldn’t want to make wine from this gem? It is Estate grown and hand harvested based on physiological ripeness. This richly textured wine displays vivid aromas of honeysuckles and spice. A nice balance of acidity, floral, and spice notes are accentuated by a hint of French oak.
  Zinfandel
The fruit was fermented in small lots and punched down four times a day during the peak of primary fermentation for maximum flavor and color extraction. The lots were then aged separately in 25% new French oak and 100% new American oak for a firm backbone and complex tanninis. After six months the lots were master blended and left to harmonize for another three months before bottling.
