Mountain View Vintners

Mountain View Vintners In 1978, San Francisco entrepreneur Kevin Shannon founded Mountain View as one of California's first negociant wineries. The negociant, a concept first popularized in the Burgundy and Bordeaux regions of France, blends, ages and bottles a unique brand from its own managed and select outsourced vineyards. From its inception, Mountain View winery has forged strong relationships with growers in order to produce reasonably-priced wines of superior quality. Our growers are located in regions that offer strong varietal character and exceptional value, including Monterey, Amador, Carneros, Mendocino and the Central Coast. Twenty-five years later, Mountain View wines continue to offer some of the finest California values on the market. Our premium quality, moderately priced wines are favored by premium wine retailers and, in particular, the hotel and restaurant trade. Mountain View wines have built a reputation as a preferred on-premise California by-the-glass product in many regions of the country.

Sourced from the heart of the Paso Robles district, where soil and climate conditions are ideally suited to this varietal, the fruit has produced a rich, concentrated berry-like Cabernet. American oak barrel-aging for 10 months has enriched the flavors and the finished wine boasts alluring color, medium-full body and approachable structure. The wine will benefit greatly from 3-5 years additional cellaring.
Fruit originating from several highly-regarded vineyards in the cool Soledad and Arroyo Seco microclimates of Monterey has yielded a quintessential Monterey Chardonnay-our best vintage of the decade! The rich tropical fruit aromas and ripe varietal flavors are balanced by the crisp acidity prized by wineries throughout the state. This wine is sure to please a wide range of palates.
Initial impressions of ripe berry fruit aromas carry through with wonderful balance, deep spicy flavors and a pleasing finish- epitomizing Merlot's popularity with both novice drinkers and connoisseurs. Fruit is sourced from the southern region of Monterey County, just across the border from San Luis Obispo, with a modest amount of foothills Cabernet added for complexity. This special release is sure to please consumers with excellent value and compatibility with hearty fare.
For this vintage we have returned to Monterey County as the prime source for rich, ripe and aromatic Pinot Noir. Fruit from the Santa Lucia and Arroyo Seco regions of the Salinas Valley matures beautifully in the cool climate and fertile soils. The wine has a fine ruby color, distinctive varietal aroma and alluring Pinot flavors, accentuated by a hint of oak. It will complement a wide variety of lighter fare and offers great value.
