Gundlach-Bundschu Winery

Gundlach-Bundschu Winery Gundlach-Bundschu Winery is a family-owned, sixth-generation producer of distinctive estate-grown and bottled Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet-family varietals on the southern border of the Sonoma Valley AVA in California. We approach our vineyards, our wines and the world with spirit and open-minds, an outlook that pervades our entire winery organization. No day at Gundlach-Bundschu is dull. At Rhinefarm estate, we utilize our natural resources to produce wines that are reflective of the vintage and our 140-year old vineyards with four classic varietals at the core of our production: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Our terroir is unique in its ability to produce this range of varieties with equal grace, and a synthesis of Old World winemaking methods and California ingenuity results in wines that are expressive and authentic. When you open a bottle of Gundlach-Bundschu, you uncork not only the earth's unique ability to produce poetry but also a rich, personal relationship between our family and the land on which we live.

  Tempranillo Rosé, Rhinefarm Vineyard
A dry, Spanish style rosé made for outdoor dining, the fresh, red fruit flavors make it sip more like a nervy light red than a typical blush wine. Assertive red currant and cherry aromas lead to vivid raspberry and strawberry flavors in this memorable, light ruby-colored wine. A delicious aperitif, this rose is also a great pairing for the grill, and any kind of shellfish.
Vintage Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Rhinefarm Vineyard
Dark ruby color, earthy aromas of dusty herb, deep blackberry and cassis lead to complex layers of blackberry, clove and molasses flavors. The broad palate is framed by fine grain tannins that convey the rich black fruit and cedar flavors through a long finish. The label is the story of "Hymn to Dionysus," by Homer in which pirates abduct Dionysus, the son of Zeus and patron deity of wine, theater and song, having mistaken him for a wealthy prince. The god the Romans later called Bacchus avenges his captors by filling the ship with wine and causing a giant grapevine to overtake the mast. The panicked sailors realize their error and leap overboard, when Dionysus mercifully spares their lives by transforming them into dolphins. The fourth of seven labels in the Millennium Series, the 'Epic' label brings us to the 7th century BC, when Greek mythology elevated winemaking to the divine.
  Zinfandel, Morse Family
Ripe aromas of boysenberry jam and sweet vanilla are followed by intense flavors of black cherry and plum, with warm cinnamon spice and toasty notes that linger on the finish. Moderate tannins give the wine a supple, round texture.
  Zinfandel, Rhinefarm Vineyard
The 2003 Rhinefarm Vineyard Zinfandel is a smooth, supple wine loaded with varietal character, yet beautifully balanced with structure and finesse. Aromas of bramble berries, allspice and white pepper, with hints of licorice, are followed by rich, ripe black cherry flavors, a rich, chewy mouthfeel and a luscious mocha quality that lingers through the long finish. Ideal cellar time is 2 – 7 years from the vintage date.
