Duxoup Wine Works

Duxoup Wine Works Founded in 1981, Duxoup Wine Works is the creation of two free-spirited, inquisitive winemakers: Deborah and Andrew Cutter. They built their small winery themselves, on a hillside at the northern end of Sonoma County’s Dry Creek Valley. The two-person operation is designed for small production and gentle, gravity flow winemaking. Deb and Andy specialize in producing silky, fruity wines from grapes grown in venerable vineyards. Fulfilled by every aspect of their work, the Cutters are a team during crush, barreling and bottling, at winemaker dinners and wine tastings, on the road. Duxoup wines express not only terroir, but also the skilled handwork of the two owners, both experienced winemakers respected for their independence and consistent quality. They are serious about their chosen wines: Syrah, Sangiovese and Charbono. The Duxoup signature is fruit and balance. The wines are rare, but available, under the Duxoup and Gennaio labels. Our recent releases include a 2005 Gamay Noir, 2003 Syrah, and 2004 Charbono, and the Gennaio 2003 Sangiovese. All of our wines, our two Dry Creek Valley wines, the estate grown Gamay Noir, and the Charbono from Napa Valley, are big juicy and intensely fruity wines--- in a word YUMMY. If Duxoup Wine Works wines are not readily available in your area, please contact us. Depending on your location, we are often able to sell directly.

This wonderful and rare grape has been tended by the Frediani Family for generations. Located just south of the town of Calistoga along the Silverado Trail, this late ripening variety benefits from its rocky soil and very warm home in northern Napa Valley. The vines, even the youngest, are very old. The grapes from the Frediani Vineyard have proven this to be the very best Charbono growth. The vintage of 2004 produced a very dark wine (Charbono means carbon), a powerfully perfumey varietal aroma, and a mouthfeel of fruit with long lingering aftertastes. 296 cases produced.
  Gamay Noir
The grapes are grown in a tiny half-acre vineyard of Gamay, wrapped around our all-gravity hillside winery, at the north end of Dry Creek Valley. Extremely limited production - 70 cases (840 bottles) for sale.
Our third vintage of Sangiovese is showing the spice and wonderful depth of flavor from Ray Teldeschi’s Home Ranch. Ray’s instinctive and knowledgeable grape growing has produced fruit with great varietal intensity. Lovely bright aromas with a good, long aftertaste, our wine is just what a Sangiovese should be. 347 cases produced.
The Syrah is proof positive of the wonderful pedigree of Ray Teldeschi’s vineyard. The Syrah highlights the spicy aromas that this special soil gives to grapes grown on the eastern bench vineyard in Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County. The growing season of 2003 produced wine that is bigger, darker and fruitier than the previous two vintages. We used about 25% new French and Hungarian barrels to add some fun flavors to the wine. 776 cases produced
