Charbono

Charbono Wine Details
Price: $20.76 per bottle

Description: This wonderful and rare grape has been tended by the Frediani Family for generations. Located just south of the town of Calistoga along the Silverado Trail, this late ripening variety benefits from its rocky soil and very warm home in northern Napa Valley. The vines, even the youngest, are very old. The grapes from the Frediani Vineyard have proven this to be the very best Charbono growth. The vintage of 2004 produced a very dark wine (Charbono means carbon), a powerfully perfumey varietal aroma, and a mouthfeel of fruit with long lingering aftertastes. 296 cases produced.

Varietal Definition
Charbono:
Red-wine creating grape grown on small acreages in California. Some have argued that it is a clone of the now sparsely grown Douce Noir grape found in the Savoie region of France, better known as the Dolcetto grape widely grown in northern Italy
