Big Creek Vineyard

Big Creek Vineyard Our family vineyard is located in Kresgeville, Pennsylvania on the southern face of the Pocono escarpment in the valley of Big Creek. The soils are a chimera of decomposing glacial drift and local slate and shale. Like the natural history of the area, our wines are unique and full of character. We strongly believe that wine is food, and is at it's best on the dinner table. Putting down the fork to pick up the glass allows pause for reflection, conversation and rejuvenation of the palate. Our fondest wish is for you to visit our vineyard and winery in Kresgeville or our shop in historic Jim Thorpe. Wine is one of those few pleasures of life that is endowed with a distinct sense of place and presence. Enjoying a fine wine at a beautiful table with family, without a sense of where it is from or who made it is an incomplete experience. Our area of Pennsylvania is blessed with a wonderful range of activities encompassing all of the season's.

  CARME' (Chardonnay)
This is our premium fine white, made from 100% Chardonnay grapes. Light and flinty with a smoky background. The wine is named after my mom Carmella, which is Italian for "thick as a brick". It similar in style to the white wine of Burgundy rather than those chardonnay wines from California or Australia. It pairs well with light chicken and fish.
  CHAMBOURCIN
This variety of grape is another French/American hybrid whose parents can be traced back to Burgundy. Breed to be a cold and disease tolerant version of Pinot noir this is one of the premier hybrids grown on the east cost. It is used for everything from light Beaujolais style wines to very heavy burgundy style reds. Ours varies with vintage but is usually a little fruitier and fuller bodied than a Pinot noir. It pairs well with red meats and game as well as heavy pasta.
  Dulcinea
Based on the Seyval grape this wine is finished at about 2% residual sugar which is at the dry end of sweet. It is very well balanced, not overly sweet, with a nice refreshingly acidic finish. We enjoy this wine after dinner with a simple dessert or with very hot Spicy foods
  LA BRUSCA
Made with concord grapes. Moderately sweet with a little tartness. Makes a wonderful sangria or chilled as an aperitif
  Seyval
Made from a French-American hybrid grape (Seyval blanc) This is a light, crisp dry white wine resembling a dry, early harvest Riesling. It goes well with heavy fish like tuna or salmon, or with spicy chicken dishes
  VIN Di PASQUALINA
amed after my Great Aunt Pasqualina (Passover or Easter). This is a dry rose? that at first seems sweet, especially the aroma. It is a blend of three grapes, but the aroma and character come from an American white grape called Niagra, also known as the white concord. It does well as an aperitif or with ham or turkey and cranberies.
