Blue Mountain Vineyard

Blue Mountain Vineyard Blue Mountain Vineyard is located next to a bird sanctuary and wilderness area over looking beautiful Vaseux Lake. The Mavety family produces a limited quantity of superb wines, using traditional winemaking methods. Winemaker Ian Mavety's goal is to produce wines of quality and style that compliment the emerging Northwest Cuisine. The Mavetys were among the pioneers Okanagan having the fortune to acquire a site where they believed the geographic factors came together better than anywhere else in the valley. Named for the hazy blue mountains that frame the vineyards, the foundations for Blue Mountain were thus established in 1971. Blue Mountain is a true family operation. The winery is worked by Ian's wife Jane, son Matt and daughter-in-law Corrie. The wine shop and tasting room is housed in a magnificent stone brick building. Tours are by appointment.

  Brut Sparkling Wine
Blue Mountain sparkling wines are m├ęthode traditionnelle, meaning the traditional techniques for making French Champagne are employed faithfully. Finished dry, these wines are aged sur-lie for two-and-a-half to five years prior to being disgorged. They then receive an additional 6 to 9 months of aging preceding release.
  Gamay Noir
  Pinot Blanc
  Pinot Gris
After the Pinot Noir and Gamay Noir grapes are crushed and destemmed, they are transferred to small open top fermentation tanks. The reds are held on their skins during and briefly following the fermentation to add colour, depth and texture to the wine. The wine is transferred into French Oak barrels where it is allowed to age until bottling.
