J Vineyards & Winery

J Vineyards & Winery The Russian River Valley is home to J Vineyards & Winery, where we believe the magic of this valley, coupled with fine, handcrafted winemaking technique is a dazzling combination. J Vineyards & Winery was founded in 1986. Judy Jordan, owner and CEO, leads the J Team with a free spirited horizontal management style that emphasizes quality and creativity. Her vision is to weave together the vines of tradition with those of contemporary innovation. J Sparkling Wine is just the beginning. The family of J wines continues to grow with the introduction of still wines including Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay all from our estate vineyards in the Russian River Valley. We do and shall remain steadfastly devoted to the land whose bounty is gently enhanced by the artistic hand of winemaker Oded Shakked. No sorcery, legerdemain, or sleight of hand…simply the finest winemaking techniques possible.

The finish is long and clean with citrus and honeysuckle notes. This wine engages the entire mouth with a surprising sense of maturity in a youthful body.
  J Chardonnay, Russian River Valley
J’s 2006 Russian River Chardonnay captures delicious aromas of apples, kumquat, caramel, toasted nuts and oranges, creating seamless flavors of lemon custard and apples with subtle oak notes. The texture is smooth and sensual, with a long finish of pineapples. This opulent Chardonnay pairs beautifully with Caramelized Day Boat Scallops in an Orange Saffron Reduction with Micro Greens.
  J Cuvée 20 Brut NV
This J non-vintage Brut gracefully opens up with crisp lemon peel, honeysuckle and delicate yeast aromas. Upon entry, these notes follow through to a mix of Fuji apple and grapefruit interlaced with toast, caramel and almond flavors on the mid-palate. The acidity adds just enough liveliness and the citrus zest leads to a lingering, warm pear and lush finish. Demonstrating an illustrious combination of yesterday and today, its fresh exuberance showcases layers of depth and complexity.
J Estate Pinotage, Russian River Valley
Masculine and earthy, the 2005 J Pinotage reveals a smoky aroma of leather, cigar box, dried spice cedar nuances and hints of tropical fruits and sour cherry. Lighter in body, but full on the palate; the initial aromatic impressions carry over in the mouth with hints of black tea and thyme. Gorgeous dark ruby in color this wine is the perfect marriage of smoke, spice and fruit
  J Pear Liqueur
J Pear Liqueur explodes in the glass with bright pear essence, butterscotch, chamomile, and vanilla aromas. A hint of apple pie and cinnamon notes blend with the aged cognac character. The flavors are predominantly that of baked pears, honeysuckle, butterscotch, and honey with an extremely long aftertaste of pears.
J Pinot Gris, Russian River Valley
The 2006 J Pinot Gris leads with tropical fruit aromas of pineapple, mango and guava blended with delicate notes of honeysuckle, pear and Fuji apple. On the palate, flavors echo the nose, exploding with bright and juicy tangerine, pear and apple flavors that carry on to a crisp and tangy finish. Its opulent texture and balanced acidity make this Pinot Gris an ideal wine to pair with a variety of foods.
  J Pinot Gris, Sonoma County
The 2005 J Pinot Gris shows white grapefruit, lime and melon aromas in the nose blended with notes of honeysuckle, jasmine and vanilla. Flavors of pear and fresh apricot are balanced with light spice and a refreshing acidity. Voluptuous texture and creaminess in the middle leads to a finish which offers lingering citrus and vanilla components.
  J Pinot Noir, Nicole's Vineyard
This estate Pinot Noir is defined by exceptional balance and elegance, reminding one why we set out to produce Pinot Noir in the first place. With a rich and vivid hue, the 2005 Nicole’s offers inviting and expressive aromas of warm spice, Bing cherry, blackberry and a soft, earthy note. Beautifully structured, the palate bursts with lifted flavors of black cherry, black plum and cola. The lush fruit combined with the baking spice notes from aging in French oak broadens the mouthfeel and gives this full and rich wine definition and length.
  J Pinot Noir, Nonny's Vineyard
The 2006 Nonny’s Vineyard Pinot Noir is a sophisticated wine, with excellent structure and texture. Its soft earthy aromas of truffles, smoke and cocoa marry with dark fruit, cooked strawberries and dry rose petals. The flavors are a balanced and complex mix of boysenberries, and blueberries with a long dusty, herbal finish.
J Pinot Noir, Robert Thomas Vineyard
The 2005 Robert Thomas opens with complex, warm, earthy notes that evolve into intense blueberry. The fruit aromas are layered with beautiful floral notes full of violets. This is followed by the warm spice of clove and cinnamon. On the palate 2005 Robert Thomas has a supple entry that fills the mouth with cherry and berry flavors. As the wine continues through the middle, hints of toffee become evident, mixed with well integrated oak hinting at vanilla and caramel. As the wine moves along an elegant backbone it flows into a long, resolved finish that picks up the warm baking spices hinted at on the nose. The sophisticated balance of fruit and oak coupled with the velvety texture of this wine make for an exceptional drinking experience.
J Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley
The 2006 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir exhibits the full potential of our vineyards and the unique terroir of our region. Aromas of bright red cherries radiate, followed by subtle notes of damp earth, mushrooms, liquorish and spices. This striking Pinot Noir stands up beautifully with Lamb Shish Kebabs on your summer grill.
  J Pinotage, Russian River Valley
Masculine and earthy, the 2005 J Pinotage reveals a smoky aroma of leather, cigar box, dried cedar nuances, and hints of tropical fruits and cherry. A gorgeous dark ruby in color, this wine is the perfect marriage of smoke, spice and fruit.
  J RRV Vintage Brut, Late-Disgorged
On the nose, the RRV offers warm baked biscuit, and thyme-scented honey aromas mixed with soft citrus notes of lime, Meyer lemon and tangerine. This Téte de Cuvée displays a creamy mouthfeel and intricate nuances only extended yeast contact can offer. Its full flavors round out with notes of warm spice, cinnamon and caramel that leads to a lengthy finish and just enough acidity to keep it fresh while allowing the layered structure to shine through.
  J Viognier, Hoot Owl Vineyard
This wine displays J’s signature style: the initial aromas are both fruity and floral (orange blossom, peaches, nectarine, honey), they lead the way to a lush and lively mid palate that begs one to complement it with food and finish with long peach, apricot vanilla and tangerine flavors with just enough acidity to cleanse the palate in preparation for the next sip. This wine is no wall-flower, it was kissed by the Sonoma sun and is as vibrant and outgoing as the people who made it. Cheers!
  J Zinfandel, Russian River Valley
The style was designed to showcase the wine’s spiciness and complexity. Blackberry, dried cherry and plum notes with slight floral and white pepper aromas greet you on the nose. The body is medium to full with a lingering finish of pepper, smoke and slight herbal notes. Because of it’s lively acidity, this wine will continue to improve with age through the next decade.
  Ratafia Dessert Wine
Ratafia is a beautiful golden color with rich viscosity in the glass. Smelling the wine reveals aromas of butterscotch, vanilla, peaches and nutty aromas of toasted almonds. In the mouth, Ratafia is rich with dried peach and apricot flavors and a nutty aftertaste accompanied by a long clean fruity finish.
