Morey Wine Cellars

Morey Wine Cellars We are pleased to bring our first release—a 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon from the Napa Valley—to our friends, both old and new. The Morey family has been involved in winemaking and grape-growing for several centuries, both in Europe and here in the United States. This 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon is being brought to you by the new generation of the Moreys which enjoys both the wisdom of our ancestors and the energy of our youth (well, we’re not *that* young but we don’t feel too old, either…). We have been making wine for over a decade and have enjoyed sharing it with our friends and family. Now, however, we have decided to expand commercially so that we can share this wine with our new friends (will you be our new friend?). We are sure that you will not be disappointed! With only 187 cases in this first commercial release, you can probably guess that we plan on remaining small. We understand that the economy is not healthy right now and we are doing everything we can to keep our wines affordable. That being said, we must also realize that this 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon is made with some of the best—and most expensive—grapes that the Napa Valley has to offer. This wine was made to become a classic and last for many years. While we are steadfastly working on our next releases, we understand that you—our friend—will trust us to continue producing wines of at least the same quality and, hopefully, better. Again, we are sure that you will not be disappointed. Either way, let us know what you think! We have committed ourselves to making the Morey name synonymous with fine quality and, to be honest, somewhat rare wines. We do not plan on expanding to the level of producing tens of thousands of cases. All of our wines are aged 24 months in barrels in order to ensure the best interaction between the wine and the oak, and to obtain a silky, complex, and dense wine. Maintaining these barrels—tasting the wines weekly, topping them off, racking from one to another—is nothing less than a labor of love. If you knew how much manual labor is involved in creating such great wines, you would understand how a winemaker learns to love his (or her!) wines. Now you understand how we cannot increase production without sacrificing the love that goes into these wines. And the Moreys are not known for sacrificing quality!

  Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
We are, once again, very pleased to bring you a wine that makes us proud! Sourced from several small vineyards in and around St. Helena, Napa Valley, we have our second vintage that takes us along our path—an obsession, really—of producing high quality, Bordeaux style wines that showcase the quality and class the Napa Valley can generate. Our winemaker crafted a wine that is drinkable upon release but exhibiting great aging potential well beyond 2010, this wine features a nicely focused bouquet of ripe black cherry, red currant with hints of shaved dark chocolate, and seamless oak integration. The wine is richly flavored, medium to full weight, neatly balanced and surprisingly polished given its age. With a fine tannin finish and beautiful detail throughout, it will complement a wide variety of foods (a rare thing for young Cabernets today!) Perfect for classic Duck Breast, Beef Filet or even Salmon with a red wine reduction, but just as good with casual Backyard Barbecue. But we digress…
  Morey Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon
Our first release—a 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon from the Napa Valley—is made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes that come from a celebrated vineyard located along the Silverado Trail in St. Helena. Southwest-facing, this vineyard is very well known for its voluptuous, silky red wines. Our 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon is no exception. Both complex and delicate, we love this wine for its inviting bouquet, its complex, unfolding body, and its lingering dancing on the palate. Great color and nice tannins complete this vintage. Overall, its elegance shines through exceedingly well!
