Keller Estate Winery & Vineyards

Keller Estate Winery & Vineyards Over the years, our vineyard acreage has grown. This growth has not taken place out of a desire to simply become larger; rather this abundance allows us to supply our winemaker with a choice in fruit to create greater complexity in our wine. Our plantings have come as we have identified unique sites on our ranch to match with specific grape clones that we have determined will thrive in these areas. Each clone brings with it characteristics; some have more color and tannin, while others have more fruit flavor or aromatics. One analogy likens them to colors on the artist’s pallet; the more hues and shades, the greater the depth and complexity. We are continuously evaluating the different clones and the wines they make; not only how each clone performs in a specific site, but how the wines work together as a blend. We now have nine clones of Pinot Noir planted on seven distinct blocks; four clones of Chardonnay on three blocks; two clones of Syrah and our latest addition a small block of Pinot Gris.

  La Cruz Rosé
Made from Syrah grapes in the tradition of the great Roses of the Rhone valley. A few hours after the fruit was de-stemmed and crushed, it was pressed and we drained off the lightly colored juice into older barrels where it was fermented to dryness. Beautiful medium salmon-rose in color. Fresh fruit aromas of ripe strawberries, cherries, and apricot are complimented by light floral notes and the clean mineral character commonly found in wines from our La Cruz Vineyard. Surprisingly rich, but balanced by refreshing acidity and a long finish of mineral and cherry flavors.
  La Cruz Vineyard Chardonnay
The aromas suggest ripe pear, apple, crème brulee, clove and candied ginger along with mineral and toasty oak notes. This is an elegant and complex chardonnay showing flavors of pear and butterscotch, joined by hints of clove and hazelnut on the finish. While impressive balance and structure provide a foundation for development over the next few years, this vintage is remarkably integrated and approachable even in its youth.
  La Cruz Vineyard Pinot Gris
Enticing aromas are of apple blossoms, peach and lychee fruit along with a distinctive mineral character reminiscent of being on a granite slab up in the Sierras right after a summer thunderstorm. The flavors are of apple, mineral and peach. This medium weight wine is bone dry with good acidity and a long minerally finish. This wine is fantastic with chevre or an aged goat cheese. This wine is best enjoyed in its youth served slightly chilled (but not ice cold!) with family and friends.
  La Cruz Vineyard Pinot Noir
The aromas are of ripe cherry and other red fruits with pipe tobacco, baking spice, orange peel and forest floor. As the wine opens up, the fruit becomes more concentrated and complex. Rich, sweet cherry and pomegranate flavors fan out across the palate and carry through the long finish.
  La Cruz Vineyard Syrah
Intense sweet black fruits, pepper, leather and subtle toasty oak. Saturated in color and flavor, but with soft tannins.
  Oro De Plata Chardonnay
A hue of brilliant platinum beckons from the glass, followed by the scent of Chardonnay flowers in full bloom. Exuberant acidity awakens the palate suggesting refreshing citrus elements of lemon and lime zest. The core of this wine consists of a complex minerality marked by an essence of wet stone tempered with notes of pear.
  Pinot Noir
The aromas are of ripe cherry and other red fruits with pipe tobacco, baking spice, orange peel and forest floor. As the wine opens up, the fruit becomes more concentrated and complex. Rich, sweet cherry and pomegranate flavors fan out across the palate and carry through the long finish.
