Pacific Star Winery

Pacific Star Winery The imposing redwood and stone barn structure nestles into the cliffside, protected from crashing waves by a flat rock bench eroded over eons. The cellar is filled with French, Hungarian and American oak barrels and specialty equipment suited to handcrafted wine production. Italian water bladder presses, open-top fermenters and a portable grape receiving systems allow small lot premium winemaking with critical attention to detail. The unique location lets magical forces come into play; waves crash into sea caves under the cellar, naturally filtering wine from its sediment. Salt from sea air deposits on barrels accelerating osmosis while creating viscous and dense wines.

  Pacific Star Barbera
Only 300 cases were produced from the Piffero Vineyard in the upper Russian River Valley near Ukiah. This multi-generation Italian family grows some of the finest wine grapes produced on California's North Coast. This wine has classic Barbera fruit and perfect balance.
  Pacific Star Charbono
Only 47 acres of Charbono left in production in the world. Mendocino County vineyards supply us with fruit from ancient sentinels for this nearly forgotten gem. Now our flagship wine, this star from Napa Valley's early days is enjoying a rebirth finding fans all over the country. Can age 20+ years in the bottle.
  Pacific Star Chardonnay
This 3-acre vineyard about the Ukiah Valley is part of the old Yokayo Ranch. Pamela Ricetti is an opera singer who farms this isolated spot and serenades her vines as she tends them. Barrel fermented in French oak - we're told even chardonnay haters - love it.
  Pacific Star Dad's Daily Red
Sally's tribute to her Dad, Fred, who's a healthy 82 and always ready to help out at the winery. It's become everyone's favorite blend - old vine Carignane, Grenache, Zinfandel, Merlot, Petite Sirah and the rare Charbono. Don't let the moderate price fool you, it ages beautifully for many years but we suggest you drink it now and lift a glass to Dads everywhere! The backbone of our 2001 Dad's is the Rhone Valley's principle commodity grape, Carignane, grown plentifully in Mendocino County. We carefully blend in Zinfandel, Grenache, Petite Sirah, Merlot, and the rare Charbono. Spicy with medium body and moderate alcohol content, Dad's resembles the table wines of the Tuscan ancestors of our Mendocino County grape growers. Hearty Italian style food is a perfect match and Dad's goes down easy in the warm evenings of summer. There's more to the story.
  Pacific Star Petite Sirah
Primarily from the Brown Vineyard in Redwood Valley, a dark and supple, bold and elegant wine. It's already showing the graceful style this special vineyard can produce.
  Pacific Star Pinot Noir
Grapes from the Langley Vineyard in Anderson Valley. Cherry nose and subtle cranberry overtones with an elegant and smooth finish. Multiple gold medal winner from recent wine competitions at Monterey, Riverside and Orange Counties.
  Pacific Star Pinot Noir
The Langley Vineyard in Anderson Valley is Mendocino County's Pinot area to watch - this little vineyard was originally rejected by a sparkling wine producer because it had too much color, body and tannin, all the qualities we want in our Pinot Noir! Styled to age gracefully.
  Pacific Star Syrah
These Potter Valley grapes are from a clone hybridized from cuttings found in both the northern and southern Rhone Valley and recently introduced into the U.S. Our first Syrah shows the varietal signature of robust berry and cherry aromas and spicy layers leading up a lingering, rich finish. Lightly touched with oak, this lovely wiine will be a pleasure consumed now and has been aged one year in the bottle, yet supple tannins will allow many years of graceful aging.
  Pacific Star Viognier
Pronounced vee-own-yeah, a northern Rhone varietal that is becoming a popular light alternative to heavily oaked Chardonnays. Sorry, just sold out! 2002 vintage to be by end of September 2005.
  Pacific Star Zinfandel Mendocino County
We had to make room for the 2000 Zinfandel - Mendocino County, so we made the 1999 Zinfandel available at HALF PRICE! A light, Italian family-style dinner wine at a great value...
  Pacific Star Zinfandel Mendocino County
A wonderful medium-bodied Zinfandel made in the old world Italian style. This vintage was blended with some old-vine Zinfandel grapes giving it robust fruit and spice.
