Reynolds Family Winery Russian River Pinot Noir

Reynolds Family Winery Russian River Pinot Noir Wine Details
Price: $45.00 per bottle

Description: 2002 was a wonderful year for Reynolds Family Winery to debut its Russian River Pinot Noir. After the success of Reynolds Family Winery's Carneros Pinot Noir, Steve sought out to find an equally deserving vineyard from which to produce his Russian River Pinot Noir. After a lengthy search Steve selected the Buenna Tierra Vineyard. Buenna Tierra Vineyard has a rich history of producing some of the best Pinot Noir Russian River Valley offers. Rigorous clonal selection resulted in the successful planting of the Wente clone on now 19 year-old vines. The Russian River Valley AVA, one of the most prestigious growing regions for Pinot Noir in the world, was established in 1983, spans 96,000 acres in a wedge of land running from the outskirts of Santa Rosa, north to Healdsburg and west to the coastal hills near the Pacific Ocean. The Reynolds Family Winery Russian River Pinot Noir inviting dark fruit aromas of black cherry, currant and raspberry. On the palette a beautiful spice component arrives alongside blueberry and wildberry flavors. The finish is lengthy and supple. A classic example of Russian River Pinot Noir.

Varietal Definition
Pinot Noir:
The name is derived from the French words for ‘pine’ and ‘black’ alluding to the varietals' tightly clustered dark purple pine cone shaped bunches of fruit. Pinot Noir grapes are grown around the world, mostly in the cooler regions, but the grape is chiefly associated with the Burgundy region of France. It is widely considered to produce some of the finest wines in the world, but is a difficult variety to cultivate and transform into wine. By volume most Pinot Noir in America is grown in California with Oregon coming in second. Other regions are Washington State and New York.During 2004 and the beginning of 2005, Pinot Noir became considerably more popular amongst consumers in the United States, possibly because of the movie Sideways. Being lighter in style, it has benefited from a trend toward more restrained, less alcoholic wines. It is the delicate, subtle, complex and elegant nature of this wine that encourages growers and winemakers to cultivate this difficult grape. Robert Parker has described Pinot Noir: "When it's great, Pinot Noir produces the most complex, hedonistic, and remarkably thrilling red wine in the world."
