The 2002 vintage in Napa Valley demanded patience. The persistence of Steve Reynolds paid off at harvest. A late pick yielded very promising fruit with well developed flavors and smooth tannins. 2002 was a wonderful year for Reynolds Family Winery to release its second vintage of Carneros Pinot Noir. After the success of Reynolds Family Winery's Carneros Pinot Noir, Steve sought out to continuing to perfect his Pinot Noir that lies in the land between Napa Valley and Sonoma Valley. After a lengthy search Steve found the perfect vineyard, the Corotto Vineyard. Corotto Vineyard has a rich history of producing some of the best Pinot Noir Carneros offers. Rigorous clonal selection resulted in the successful grafting of the 667 clone to St. George rootstock on now 10 year-old vines. Carneros is one of the most unique appellations. Pinot Noir thrives in Carneros due to the cool microclimate, heavy soils, marine breezes, and low moisture that naturally foster the full ripening of Pinot Noir flavors in combination with bright fresh flavors. Nestled between the two, Napa and Sonoma, the 36,900 acres contain soil high in clay content, An excellent soil content for Pinot Noir The Reynolds Family Winery Carneros Pinot Noir inviting dark fruit aromas of fresh raspberries, berry jam, and cherry. On the palette there is a rich concentration of fleshy blackberry, black cherry, cedar and spice. The wine evolves into a complex and compelling example of Carneros Pinot Noir.
