Syrah - "Nocturne" - Paso Robles

Syrah - "Nocturne" - Paso Robles Wine Details
Price: $19.00 per bottle

Description: Your eyes are delighted with the dark and beautiful color of this wine. The nose explodes with smoky, spicy black cherry, raspberry, and cola. The mouthfeel is creamy with a rich array of flavors including raspberry, all-spice, earth, smoke and leather. The finish lingers from sip to sip. Already smooth tannins balance well with the supple acidity. This wine is 100% Syrah grown on three very different vineyards located around Paso Robles. One vineyard contributes cooler weather attributes such as minerals and red fruit. Another contributes the firm tannins and earthiness. The third adds the warmer weather flavors of blueberry and ripe raspberry. The wine was aged in primarily French oak barrels for 26 months and rough-filtered for clarity prior to bottling. Enjoy now thru 2008.

Varietal Definition
Syrah:
Syrah is the eight hundred pound gorilla of Rhone grapes! In the vineyard and the winery, Syrah is typically an easy grape to work with - healthy, early ripening, resistant to mildew and rot; suitable for winemaking in a variety of styles. The wines from Syrah are tannic without being harsh. The wines will have a taste and smell of dark blue fruit like blackberries and blackcurrant, with a strong spicy side where one can find freshly ground pepper and other spices. Syrah is famous for its part in the French blends, such as Côtes du Rhone and Châteauneuf du Pape.
