Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon Wine Details
Price: $52.00 per bottle

Description: s wine is Alexander the Great personified! Beneath inky purple cloak, riding high through the marketplace, basking in the awe of those beneath him. The cacophony of vendors is overshadowed by the aroma of their wares - vibrant cherries, rich black currants, anise, and spice - while the parade continues through the city streets where open gates allow subtle smells of violets, cocoa, and cloves to blow in from the countryside. Children scamper ahead stealing tastes of blackberries and blueberries to accompany the black cherries and cranberries they gorged themselves on earlier, continuing their grandiose battles with swords of cedar, using baskets of sweet herbs to playfully hide from each other. But everyone is focused on Alexander as he leaves behind the hanging bunches of dried sage and crates of fresh raspberries; his strong demeanor indicating he will be around for years to come.

Varietal Definition
Cabernet Sauvignon:
Cabernet Sauvignon is the most widely planted and significant among the five dominant varieties in France’s Bordeaux region, as well as the most successful red wine produced in California. Though it was thought to be an ancient variety, recent genetic studies at U.C. Davis have determined that Cabernet Sauvignon is actually the hybrid offspring of Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Franc. Cabernet Sauvignon berries are small with black, thick and very tough skin. This toughness makes the grapes fairly resistant to disease and spoilage and able to withstand some autumn rains with little or no damage. It is a mid to late season ripener. These growth characteristics, along with its flavor appeal have made Cabernet Sauvignon one of the most popular red wine varieties worldwide.
