Buttonwood Marsanne

Buttonwood Marsanne Wine Details
Price: $12.00 per bottle

Description: Marsanne is one of two Rhone varietals grown in the Buttonwood Farm vineyard. While interest in all of the Rhone varietals is increasing, Buttonwood remains one of the few California wineries to produce this unique white wine. 2004 Marsanne is a delicate beauty. Subtle flavors of fig, pear and spice tease the taste buds while the light body and pleasantly tart finish make it a fine accompaniment with many first course dishes.

Varietal Definition
Marsanne:
White grape of the Northern Rhône and primary constituent of white Crozes-Hermitage and St.Joseph it is also a permitted blend for red Hermitage. It produces wines high in extract and alcohol with pronounced floral and almond characteristics. Often blended with the more refined Roussanne for a touch of elegance. Seen as a varietal in the Victoria region of Australia, notably Chateau Tahbilk.
