Syrah, Napa Valley

Syrah, Napa Valley Wine Details
Price: $22.00 per bottle

Description: This wine shows the classic varietal fruit qualities of spice and blackberry along with the complements of one-half American oak and one-half French oak barrel aging. The finish is long and has a classic mouth feel, which only the syrah grape can provide. The grapes were picked at optimum maturity and rotary fermented to achieve the best of extractions. The rotary fermentation also allows us to maintain the "just right: tannin level. This Burgess vineyard is on a mountainside facing east above Pope Valley. This environment concentrates the characteristics by restricting the yields. After the grapes are picked, the most modern techniques are used to capture all the qualities

Varietal Definition
Syrah:
Syrah is the eight hundred pound gorilla of Rhone grapes! In the vineyard and the winery, Syrah is typically an easy grape to work with - healthy, early ripening, resistant to mildew and rot; suitable for winemaking in a variety of styles. The wines from Syrah are tannic without being harsh. The wines will have a taste and smell of dark blue fruit like blackberries and blackcurrant, with a strong spicy side where one can find freshly ground pepper and other spices. Syrah is famous for its part in the French blends, such as Côtes du Rhone and Châteauneuf du Pape.
