Description:
This Zinfandel is sourced from three west side vineyards, all are dry-land farmed, head pruned mature plantings on nutrient-rich clay and calcareous hillsides at 1400 to 1700 ft elevations. Old Bailey was planted in the 1960's, Martinelli in the 1920's and Ueberroth in the 1890's. This is our finest effort since 1995, some six vintages previously. With the vines' ages come deep roots, small berries, ridiculously low yields and concentrated fruit flavors. When harvested at optimum ripeness, the grapes become a vivacious, peppery, wild bramble-berry fruited wine. A big, bold, spicy, traditional Zin lovers' Zinfandel. Worthy of deep zin contemplation!
