Description:
This wine is sourced from two old-vine, west side Zinfandel vineyards. Planted in the 1970s, Beckwith Vineyard lies in a very cool swale that makes for late ripening and the associated intense flavor. The soils are nutrient-rich clay and calcareous shale on hillsides ranging from 1,400 to 1,700 feet in elevation. Red Head Ranch was originally known as the Klintworth Vineyard. Planted in 1895, Red Head is one of the two original vineyards of Paso Robles. This vineyard produces a dry-farmed field blend with low yields and intensely flavored berries. The result of the two vineyard blend is an extraordinary example of permanent mouth-coating red wine, and represents a selection of the best 10 barrels from 121 available. This highly aromatic wine with deep, long lasting flavors captures maximum old-vine character.
