2002 PINOT GRIS RESERVE

2002 PINOT GRIS RESERVE Wine Details
Price: $18.00 per bottle

Description: 273 cases produced. Our first Reserve Pinot Gris is a blend of 77% fruit from the Del Rio Vineyard and 23% from Bethel Heights. The Bethel Heights fruit was fermented cold in stainless steel to preserve its distinctive fresh fruit character, but we decided to nudge the weightier Del Rio fruit one step further in the Alsatian direction by fermenting it in neutral oak. The two were blended after fermentation was complete. With ripe pear and melon flavors, a hint of floral character and a certain viscosity enhanced by barrel fermentation, this wine is the perfect match for crab cakes or pan fried oysters.

Varietal Definition
Pinot Grigio/Gris:
Pinkish-white variety producing a very crisp white wine. Grown in Oregon, the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, and more and more in California, it shows promise for other cool climates. Also known as Tokay d'Alsace in France, Rulander in Germany, and Pinot Grigio in Italy.
