Susquehanna Sweet Red Wine

Susquehanna Sweet Red Wine Wine Details
Price:

Description: This fruit-forward sweet wine is a unique blending by Spring Gate of American Concord, with its flavor reminiscent of the juice everyone has experienced at breakfast growing up, and the French Hybrid grape Chancellor. This wine, however, is made more complex with the French addition and introduces cherry and strawberry to the taste also. It is perfect for making spritzers, serving well chilled on its own, and drinking with salty snacks.

Varietal Definition
Chancellor:
A french-american hybrid with origins in the Rhone Valley of France. Was widely grown and very popular in France where it was used to produce high quality red and rose' wines. Now being replaced by varieties stipulated by E.U. rules. Also grown in the cooler regions of Eastern U.S. and Canada.
Concord:
This native American grape varietal (of the genus vitis labrusca) is used in making old- fashioned, "rustic" country-style red wines, often displaying what most people think of as a "grape jelly aroma." In fact, the Concord is widely used in the production of jellies and jams. This East Coast varietal produces wines that have been variously described as foxy, meaning they have a unique aroma/flavor profile variously described as wild and musky. Mogen David is perhaps the quintessential Concord wine.
