Merrymeeting Dry Mead

Merrymeeting Dry Mead Wine Details
Price:

Description: Merrymeeting dry mead is made from Maine gathered wildflower and wild raspberry honeys. The taste is light and crisp, with a honey nose and layers of citrus and white flowers (the raspberry blossoms). To characterize this wine for people who have not yet tasted Merrymeeting, our distributor; South Portland Wine Company, describes this wine as a sauvignon blanc with honey flavors. At wine tastings I have also had people remark about a similarity to sauvignon blanc, even though our wine is made only with honey. This dry mead blossoms when paired with lightly grilled meats or artisan cheeses. It is delicious with smoked seafood such as oysters, salmon or a classic Maine finnan haddie. Brine cured meats such as corned beef (the centerpiece of a traditional Maine boiled dinner) or ham are perfect matches, as well. And a big yes to lobster. If you're looking for a versatile, dry white wine with a sense of adventure, you're looking for Merrymeeting Dry Mead.
