Sauvignon Blanc, Russian River Valley, 2007

Sauvignon Blanc, Russian River Valley, 2007 Wine Details
Price: $26.00 per bottle

Description: A pleasing and playful wine to share with friends and family. The picturesque Russian River Valley with its towering redwood trees, rugged hillsides, wildflower meadows, and trails that meander along the banks of the river, is also home to 10,000 vineyard acres, designated official appellation status in 1983. Days are warm, even hot, yet cool fog rolls in each morning and evening from the nearby Pacific Ocean, creating the ideal cool-climate environment for high acidity and bursts of fruit flavor in Sauvignon Blanc. While aromas of citrus linger on the nose, your palate will delight in the gracious tang of grapefruit. Hints of passion fruit complete the smooth, clean finish, leaving you refreshed and ready for the next sip of this friendly wine. This wine pairs well with homemade pizza topped with feta cheese, sliced fresh figs and prosciutto.

Varietal Definition
Sauvignon Blanc:
Sauvignon Blanc is widely grown in California — at over 15,000 acres, it’s now the third most planted variety — and often assumes the moniker ‘Fume Blanc’. This popular synonym, credited to Napa’s Robert Mondavi, derives from the grape’s historic home of Pouilly in France’s Upper Loire Valley, where Sauvignon Blanc is the dominant varietal and goes locally by the name of ‘Blanc Fumé’. When treated with respect and afforded suitable growing conditions, Sauvignon Blanc is one of the wine world’s darlings. Steely, racy acidity, green, gooseberry fruit, asparagus and a grassy, herbaceous character characterize dry wines made from this grape.
