Sauvignon Vert

Sauvignon Vert Wine Details
Price: $15.00 per bottle

Description: This is 100% Napa Valley Sauvignon Vert from the Joseph A. Nichelini Vineyard in Chiles Valley. The wine was fermented slowly and coldly in a Stainless Steel fermenter and has had no contact with oak. Alcohol is 13.2% and residual sugar is .67%. With aromas of grapefruit, coconut, pineapple, honeydew, banana and papaya, this wine is a tropical vacation in a glass! A sharp, fresh and zesty palate with great acidity and elegant finish rounds out this spunky summer wine. Sauvignon Vert is correctly known as Muscadelle and is one three white varieties that are used in making white Bordeaux. The others are Sauvignon blanc and Sémillon. Although it shares a strong grapy aroma with members of the Muscat family, Muscadelle is a distinctly Bordelais variation on the theme. About 5,000 acres are grown in Bordeaux.

Varietal Definition
Sauvignon Vert:
Alternative name for the Tocai Friulano grape of northern Italy. In California the grape known as Sauvignon Vert is probably a Muscadelle varietal clone.
