Heringer Estates Non Vintage Petite Sirah Port

Heringer Estates Non Vintage Petite Sirah Port Wine Details
Price: $20.00 per bottle

Description: This Port is a desert in itself; no need for cake because it has arrived. Our Petite Sirah Port will fill your nose with aromas of dark cherry, blueberry, and hints of sweet blackberry pie. This port explodes in your mouth and finishes soft, luscious and seductive. We decided to combine our 2004 and 2005 exceptional vintages in order to make a more complex and robust wine than either were alone. This will be our first Petite Sirah Port bottling and it promises to be a memorable one. We trust that this desert wine will bring you as much pleasure in the drinking as it has brought us in the making.

Varietal Definition
Petite Sirah:
Petite Sirah is the same as the French variety known as Durif, a cross of Peloursin, with the true Syrah. A French nurseryman, Dr. François Durif, propagated the grape trying for resistance to powdery mildew and named it after himself, in the 1870s. Petite Sirah has long been an important blending grape, prized primarily for its deep color and fairly intense tannin. It is the variety most often chosen to blend into Zinfandel for added color, complexity, body, and to tone down the tendency of Zins toward "jammy" fruit.
