Seven Poplars Pinotage

Seven Poplars Pinotage Wine Details
Price: $23.90 per bottle

Description: Pinotage is a South African variety which is a hybrid of Pinot Noir and Cinsault. The first vines were planted here in 1996 and a further half acre was planted in 1997. This is a great example of a Pinotage albeit a bit far from it’s homeland. The nose is full of rich, jammy red and black berry fruit. A full bodied wine that is drinking well now but will continue to improve with age. This is the only Pinotage produced in Canada.

Varietal Definition
Pinotage:
Grape widely grown and successful in South Africa. Derived from the crossing of a Pinot Noir clone and Cinsaut. Used to make a popular, hearty red wine that ages well - (and often requires it). Also found widely grown in New Zealand and in smaller acreages in California.
