Description: The 2005 White Feather is a blend of Auxerrois, Pinot Blanc, Bacchus and Vidal. To assemble this blend we start with quality grapes, an open mind and receptive taste buds. It gives us a chance to have fun and try something new. The result is an off-dry wine that is refreshing on the patio, lively at social gatherings and delicious at the dinner table.

Varietal Definition
Auxerrois:
French local name for the Malbec, aka Cot red wine grape species grown in the Cahors region of France and also, confusingly, an important white wine grape in the Alsace region called the Auxerrois Blanc that is distinct from another locally grown white wine grape called the Auxerrois Gris that is actually the Pinot Gris varietal grape.
Vidal Blanc:
A white French hybrid once widely planted in the south of France, it is more suitable for growing in warm and humid climates like the South. These vines are prolific, producing large golden berries, suitable for eating out of hand as table grapes. When vinified, Villard Blanc makes a fruity, mildly intense white wine (somewhat Sauvignon Blanc like) of fairly neutral and simple flavors. Primarily used for blending.
Bacchus:
Named after the Roman god of wine, Bacchus is found in Canada’s westernmost province of British Columbia, in the United Kingdom, and most widely in its native Germany, where it flourishes in the heart of German bulk wine production and beer country. Two-thirds of its German production is in the Rheinhessen and much of the rest is in the Franconia district, famous for its Bavarian wheat beers. Created by crossing a Müller-Thurgau with a Silvaner-Riesling cross, this white wine-producing varietal adapts to a broad range of climates. Bacchus benefits from its ability to grow in less favorable vineyard sites than Riesling and even Müller-Thurgau. It produces full-bodied wines, with attractive fruit and floral characteristics, similar to Muscat. As an early budder, this varietal is susceptible to spring frosts, and its lack of acidity can prove challenging.
