Family Chardonnay

Family Reserve Chardonnay Wine Details
Price: $25.00 per bottle

Description: The rich straw, almost light gold, color provides a sneak peak to the rapture of this Family Reserve Chardonnay. Swirling the glass shows off the long, lingering legs of this wine, while the nose expresses fruit flavours of cantaloupes, pears, apricots, with the effect of French oak shining through displaying rich toasted cedar, spice and vanilla characters. The added complexity due to malo-lactic fermentation is demonstrated by the slight toast and butter aroma which wafts through continually. The medium-bodied palate is a slick, yet silky, sensation with upfront citrus and tropical fruits flavours of green apples, apricots, melons, and subtle banana. The solid acidity provides a good base for further tastes of toast, cedar and faint almonds of this complex Chardonnay. The finish is reminiscent of the legs, with an enduring warm finish which loiters at the back of your throat long after the wine has been initially enjoyed.

Varietal Definition
Chardonnay is by far the most widely planted grape crop in California and dominates California’s cooler, coastal, quality wine regions. The natural varietal ‘taste and smell’ of Chardonnay is surprisingly unfamiliar to many wine drinkers, as its true character is often guised with dominating winemaking signatures. Chardonnay’s rather subdued primary fruit characteristics lean toward the crisp fruitiness of apples, pears and lemon, but the variety’s full body is capable of supporting a host of complementary characteristics, such as oak, butter and vanilla. Regardless of what is the appropriate style for Chardonnay, the varietal continues to dominate vineyard plantings in every corner of the world. Close attention to clonal selection has made this broad geographic and climactic range of Chardonnay viable in thoughtful viticultural hands.
