Reynolds Family Winery Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

Reynolds Family Winery Estate Select Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Wine Details
Price: $45.00 per bottle

Description: The 2002 vintage from Reynolds Family Winery benefited from a long dry season of warm days and cool nights, giving the fruit a perfect balance of energy and rest. Our low yield vineyard practices,(at 2-1/2 tons per acre), continually ensure beautifully dark fruit with mature developed tannins. The Estate Select Cabernet Sauvignon is produced from grapes that are exclusively grown on the 10 acre estate vineyard. The winemaking techniques include tank fermentation with rack and return in combination with the gentle treatment of the fruit which is inherent to small bin fermentation, three daily hand punch down of caps and gentle bladder pressing. The blend of two Bordeaux Cabernet clones, 337 & 4, the Wiemer clone and Cab Franc clone 5 create an intense deep color and dark fruit aromas such as black currant, tobacco and spice.

Varietal Definition
Cabernet Sauvignon:
Cabernet Sauvignon is the most widely planted and significant among the five dominant varieties in France’s Bordeaux region, as well as the most successful red wine produced in California. Though it was thought to be an ancient variety, recent genetic studies at U.C. Davis have determined that Cabernet Sauvignon is actually the hybrid offspring of Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Franc. Cabernet Sauvignon berries are small with black, thick and very tough skin. This toughness makes the grapes fairly resistant to disease and spoilage and able to withstand some autumn rains with little or no damage. It is a mid to late season ripener. These growth characteristics, along with its flavor appeal have made Cabernet Sauvignon one of the most popular red wine varieties worldwide.
