Description:
Viognier (pronounced VEE-own-yay) is a lovely white grape from the Rhone region of France, just beginning to be more widely known in the United States. This wine is a superb example and very characteristic of the varietal, with fragrant jasmine and peach leading off the exotic, forward nose that includes lemongrass and lichee notes. On the palate, the wine is crisp and bright with flavors of ripe green apples and tropical mango, underlaid with a warm, nutty toasted almond note contributed by the particular yeast strain used in fermentation. Delightful with Asian fusion cuisine and other light and spicy fare.
