Z2 Aged

Z2 Barrel Aged Reserve Wine Details
Price: $39.90 per bottle

Description: Blend wines are becoming our signature wines. Originally blended because of the necessity of stretching our Zweigelt production to higher values we created our Z2 and Z3 wines. This enabled us to produce production increased of over 150% without sacrificing our quality of wines. To out surprise our customers are drawn to our creations like we never could imagine. Sommeliers love them and wine collectors are storing these wines in their wine cellars. This unique red blend of Zweigelt and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from select vineyards of the Okanagan Valley was inspired by the popularity of our release the Z3 red wine. The Cabernet sauvignon provides the foundation of a tasty and satisfying full body table wine, while the Zweigelt gives plenty of fruit spices and chocolate notes. Some of the best vineyards in BC provided the components that made this wine the mouth-filling adventure that it is. The wine matches beautifully with spicy poultry dishes, Mediterranean foods, soft cheeses, and shellfish. This wine is drinking very well now, and it should cellar until at least 2015.

Varietal Definition
Cabernet Sauvignon:
Cabernet Sauvignon is the most widely planted and significant among the five dominant varieties in France’s Bordeaux region, as well as the most successful red wine produced in California. Though it was thought to be an ancient variety, recent genetic studies at U.C. Davis have determined that Cabernet Sauvignon is actually the hybrid offspring of Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Franc. Cabernet Sauvignon berries are small with black, thick and very tough skin. This toughness makes the grapes fairly resistant to disease and spoilage and able to withstand some autumn rains with little or no damage. It is a mid to late season ripener. These growth characteristics, along with its flavor appeal have made Cabernet Sauvignon one of the most popular red wine varieties worldwide.
Zweigelt:
Zweigelt is a red wine grape variety developed in 1922, at the Federal Institute for Viticulture and Pomology at Klosterneuburg, by Fritz Zweigelt. It was a crossing of Blaufränkisch and St. Laurent. It is now the most widely -grown red grape variety in Austria, as well as having some presence in Canada's vineyards.
