Dry Chenin Blanc, Green Valley

Dry Chenin Blanc, Green Valley Wine Details
Price: $15.00 per bottle

Description: Green Valley is just over the foothills, east of Casa Nuestra. It is there we discovered a wonderful (but tiny) Chenin Blanc vineyard. This would mark our first, non-estate Chenin Blanc. It offers all of the characteristics we have grown to love in our estate Chenin. It has melon and green apples on the palate and a crisp acidity. Production note: because this was such a small lot, we could not cold stabilize, which is a process affecting the aesthetics of the wine. Once chilled, natural may appear at the bottom of the bottle. Rest assured, in no way does it affect the flavors or aromas.

Varietal Definition
Chenin Blanc:
Classic white varietal of France's Loire Valley and now grown throughout the world. Known for its rather unusual 'wet-wool', 'damp straw' aromas, it tends to be more floral than fruity when young and gives high acidity, growing well in marginal climates. It ages well and its susceptibility to 'botrytis'* produces some of the great sweet wines of the Loire, for example Quarts de Chaume and Vouvray. It is grown widely in South Africa where it is known as 'Steen'.
