Description:
The 2004 Joel Gott Sauvignon Blanc is a blend of fruit sourced from vineyards in Monterey and our favorite valley floor locations in Napa. The cool air from Monterey and San Pablo bay provides us with a long growing season, thus giving the grapes a slow maturation time allowing us to optimize varietal characteristics. The purity of fruit is enhanced by using 100% stainless steel fermentation, which gives the wine aromas and flavors of passion fruit, white peach, ruby-red grapefruit and hints of jasmine. This wine enters full with sweet fruit flavors in the mid pallet and lingers with a crisp and refreshing finish, a wonderful summer wine!

Varietal Definition
Sauvignon Blanc:
Sauvignon Blanc is widely grown in California — at over 15,000 acres, it’s now the third most planted variety — and often assumes the moniker ‘Fume Blanc’. This popular synonym, credited to Napa’s Robert Mondavi, derives from the grape’s historic home of Pouilly in France’s Upper Loire Valley, where Sauvignon Blanc is the dominant varietal and goes locally by the name of ‘Blanc Fumé’. When treated with respect and afforded suitable growing conditions, Sauvignon Blanc is one of the wine world’s darlings. Steely, racy acidity, green, gooseberry fruit, asparagus and a grassy, herbaceous character characterize dry wines made from this grape.
