Description:
In the 2001 growing season Mother Nature provided nearly perfect spring and summer weather, allowing even fruit set, balanced ripening, and extensive hang time. Our well-drained mountain soils, extremely low yields, and excellent sun exposure of these Malbec blocks concentrated the flavors and ripened the phenolics to their optimum heights.
Aromas of boysenberry, white pepper, & exotic spice are followed by toasty oak reminiscent of vanilla and caramelized brown sugar. The flavors of fresh black berry jam and caramel coated blueberries integrate with fine grain French oak, spice, and sage. Supple and seamless fleshy tannins coat the mid pallet and finish. The fruit forward character makes this wine approachable in 2004 while cellaring insures enjoyment over the next decade.
