Napa Valley Rosato

Napa Valley Rosato Wine Details

Description: This Rosato blend is comprised of fruit sourced from vineyards in the Oak Knoll and Coombsville areas of Napa Valley. To ensure our highest standard of quality, these vineyards are managed by Buoncristiani Family Winery or by other Napa Valley growers who adhere to our strict viticultural philosophy. The components of this Syrah Rosé were fermented in 55% stainless steel and 45% neutral French oak barrels. Primary fermentation was allowed to complete to dryness, while secondary fermentation was suppressed to preserve the crisp acidity and forward, bright fruit. This 2004 Rosato was bottled after only 4 months of barrel aging in order to capture the essence of the Syrah fruit profile of black cherry, boysenberry, and ripe raspberry while ensuring proper timing for spring parties and summer BBQ’s.

Varietal Definition
Syrah is the eight hundred pound gorilla of Rhone grapes! In the vineyard and the winery, Syrah is typically an easy grape to work with - healthy, early ripening, resistant to mildew and rot; suitable for winemaking in a variety of styles. The wines from Syrah are tannic without being harsh. The wines will have a taste and smell of dark blue fruit like blackberries and blackcurrant, with a strong spicy side where one can find freshly ground pepper and other spices. Syrah is famous for its part in the French blends, such as Côtes du Rhone and Châteauneuf du Pape.
