Estate Syrah

Estate Reserve Syrah Wine Details
Price: $28.00 per bottle

Description: While our central coast selection is designed to blend flavors from warm AVA’s with those cold climate regions, the estate version is designed to show what proper site selection, wine making techniques and vineyard management can do to distinguish terroir. After specific fermentation and pressing techniques, the wine is racked to a mixture of small French and Americium oak barrels. Aged 18 to 24 months. Aromas open with hints of vanilla and coffee, framed by smokey, cedary oak with tarry accents, finishing with dark chocolate. Big chewy tannins, floral flavors of rose and violets combine with tar and berries. This wine will improve with one to two years of cellaring.

Varietal Definition
Syrah:
Syrah is the eight hundred pound gorilla of Rhone grapes! In the vineyard and the winery, Syrah is typically an easy grape to work with - healthy, early ripening, resistant to mildew and rot; suitable for winemaking in a variety of styles. The wines from Syrah are tannic without being harsh. The wines will have a taste and smell of dark blue fruit like blackberries and blackcurrant, with a strong spicy side where one can find freshly ground pepper and other spices. Syrah is famous for its part in the French blends, such as Côtes du Rhone and Châteauneuf du Pape.
