Description:
Our second vintage from this steep, southeast facing vineyard is the 2003 Beaux Frères, The Upper Terrace. It is again our biggest, richest, and most muscular Pinot Noir. It is close in quality to the full-bodied, rich 2002. Notes of sweet plums, raspberries, cherries, and a hint of sassafras along with some darker fruits and something primordial and earthy emerge from this juicy Pinot. With exceptional concentration, tremendous purity, density, structure, and moderate tannin, the 2003 vintage is not as approachable as the 2002 Beaux Frères Estate Pinot Noir. We believe it will need one to three years of bottle age, and should keep for 12-15 years in a cool cellar. It too, was bottled with neither fining nor filtration, and extremely low levels of sulfur. Anticipated Maturity: 2006-2021
