Description: Pinot Gris from our 7 Hills Vineyard on the Old Mission Peninsula appelation is crisp and refreshing with melon fruit and delicate floral notes. This is a superb grape for the expression of "terroir", displayiing mild herbal and mineral accents on the palate. This is a tremendous food wine.

Varietal Definition
Mission:
Earliest grape planted in 17th century in what is now the state of California. Thought to have arrived in the America's by Spanish conquistadores importation. Known to be identical with the Pais grape widely grown in Chile and thought to originate from the Monica grape of Spain and Sardinia.
Pinot Grigio/Gris:
Pinkish-white variety producing a very crisp white wine. Grown in Oregon, the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, and more and more in California, it shows promise for other cool climates. Also known as Tokay d'Alsace in France, Rulander in Germany, and Pinot Grigio in Italy.
