Pend d'Oreille Winery After years of acquiring winemaking experience both in France and stateside, Pend d'Oreille Winery owners, Julie and Stephen Meyer established their winery in Sandpoint, known for its scenic beauty. Pend d'Orielle Winery produces award winning wines including wines including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and reserve wines available only through the winery. An emphasis on balance and elegance results in wines that flatter the meals with which they are served. By hand harvesting the grapes, gently handling and slowly aging the wines in French oak barrels, they make wines that are complex and elegant, with a sophisticated balance between fruit and oak flavor. This patience is paying off in the awards, two years in a row judged "Best of Idaho." The winery's new tasting room and gallery features an elegant tasting bar made of local hardwood by area craftsmen. Informative tastings and tours of the winery are conducted by the winemaker. When visiting the winery, gallery and tasting room, enjoy the vast array of recreational and cultural opportunities near Lake Pend d'Orielle: Schweitzer Ski Resort, the annual Music Festival at Sandpoint and the area's burgeoning arts community.

From the US 95 North/South, or Rt 2 East. Get onto 1st Ave and follow til' it becomes Cedar St. We occupy the old Pend Oreille Brewing Company building, it's on the the right at the corner of Cedar and 3rd.

  Berghan Vineyard Terroir Series
70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, Walla Walla Valley, Washington. The Berghan Vineyard, located in the Wall Walla Valley, produces a superb wine due to its deep soils, warm growing season and low yields. We gently ferment and age the wine in small oak barrels. Our blend marries the flavors of both grapes rendering a wine full of flavor and depth. Try this wine with roasts or ponder it as a “session” wine.
  Bistro Blanc
Silver Medal- Northwest Wine Summit, 2004. A lovely Chardonnay, bursting with the springtime fragrance of green apples with hints of butter and soft vanilla. Wonderful fruit, with a pear-like quality. Excellent with everything from dinner parties to casual conversation. (650 cases produced)
  Bistro Rouge, Cabernet-Merlot-Syrah
Silver Medal- 2005 Idaho Wine Festival 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 22% Syrah, 3% Cabernet Franc; Washington This fun yet sophisticated wine is your everyday wine that is perfect for barbecues, pizza or just conversation. It has full berry flavors with sturdy yet soft tannins. The blend has become the vin de pays of the Northwest.
  Cabernet Franc, Columbia Valley
Pepper and leather aromas are balanced with approachable plum flavors backed by spicy tannins. This versatile wine pairs nicely with lamb, game, or cajun foods. (147 cases produced)
  Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley
This blockbuster Cabernet is rich in berry fruit with soft, dark tannin and an oaky finish. It’s earthy overtones make it the perfect steak or barbecue wine. (298 cases produced).
Gold Medal- 2004 Northwest Wine Summit Another stunning wine from the Vickers Vineyard in Caldwell, Idaho. This vintage is full of embracing fruit that coats the mouth with flavors of honeydew, nectar and oak. It is rich and buttery from aging in French oak and malolactic fermentation.
With a heady scents of gardenia and rose water this wine is treat for the nose as well as the mouth. Flavors of leachy nut, Anjou pear and plum lend a touch of sweetness to our Gewurtztraminer. This wine is ideal as an aperitif, with cheese and fruit, or accompanying crème brulee.
  Huckleberry Blush
“Best Idaho Wine” at Mt. Borah and Gold Medal- Northwest Wine Summit, 2003. It's pink, it's an infusion, but it's a serious wine. This delightful Riesling is infused with wine produced from local huckleberries giving it a lovely blush color and the flavor of our local mountains. Try this wine with fruit salad or just sip well chilled. (500 cases produced)
  L'OEuvre, Columbia Valley
“Recommended”- Wine Press Northwest, 2004 “87”- Wine Enthusiast. 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc. This blend of grapes from the Benton City Beach marries each grape to create complex berry flavors framed with soft oak and cassis tannins.
  Merlot, Berghan Vineyard- Terroir Series
The first of our vineyard designate wines from the Berghan Vineyard in Walla Walla. This wine has it all- fruit, texture, embracing character all framed with againg in new French oak. This is an outstanding wine to be absorbed into ones consciousness of wine perfection. (80 cases produced).
  Merlot, Columbia Valley
This wine begins with aromas of rose petals. The flavors are a complex of raspberry, vanilla and smoke, finishing with licorice overtones. Pair this wine with pasta, salmon or a roast. (267 cases produced). New Release
  Pinot Gris, Columbia Valley
Gold Medal, Northwest Wine Summit, 2004. Honeysuckle aromas are the prelude to the juicy grapefruit and gooseberry fruit flavors. Try this wine with a fruit salad or classic steamed Dungeness crab. (283 cases produced)
  Reserve Chardonnay, Idaho-Vickers Vineyard
Select barrels from the Vickers Vineyard stand out for reserve designation by winemaker Stephen Meyer. Rich flavors and texture developed in French oak are the hallmark of this distinguished wine.
  Sangiovese, Washington
Aromas of strawberries and earth greet the palate. This wine, from Italian parentage, opens with bright cherry flavors. It has background flavors of leather and finishes with a snap of licorice. Try this wine with pasta and rich Tuscan-style cuisine. (148 cases produced)
  Sauvignon Blanc, Washington
This clean medium bodied white wine greets the taster with a light perfume aroma. It has flavors of gooseberry and a flinty finish. Try this wine with the classic pairing: oysters on the half shell. Limited Release (159 cases produced).
  Syrah, Columbia Valley
Bronze Medal, Northwest Wine Summit, 2004. Silver Medal, Idaho Wine Festival, 2004. “Excellent!”- Wine Press Northwest. A robust Rhone Style wine with deep blackberry and cola nut flavors. This is a full-bodied release from a promising pair of Yakima Valley vineyards. This wine pairs nicely with Asian foods and red meats. (300 cases produced)
  Terroir Malbec, Wood River Vineyard, Idaho
Malbec is one of the five grapes used in red Bordeaux wines. Its role in the blend is to add bright fruit flavor and deep magenta color to the blends. In Argentina, this varietal, imported to the country in the 1800’s has achieved its own distinct character and become the best known wine from the Mendoza area of Argentina. Our own version is rich and voluptuous with wonderful fruit character and depth. We carefully ferment and then age this wine in small oak barrels. This Malbed is robust and full of bright flavors, yet soft and complex. Enjoy it with red meats and aged cheeses.
