Fisher Vineyards

Fisher Vineyards The winery was founded in 1973, when Fred and Juelle purchased 100 acres in the Mayacamas Mountains on the western slope of Spring Mountain. There, they built a winery tucked in among the vines and Douglas Firs. The winery itself is a product of the estate, having been built from the timber that was cut and milled on-site and crafted into an award-winning facility by their good friend and architect, William Turnbull. In 1976, the Fishers purchased another 57 acres on the Silverado Trail in the Napa Valley, a property that runs from the Napa River to the Eastern Vaca Range, adjacent to the famed Eisele Vineyard, and the source of what was to become our Lamb Vineyard Cabernet, Coach Insignia Cabernet and RCF Vineyard Merlot.

  Coach Insignia Chardonnay, Sonoma County
A pure 100% Chardonnay blended from grapes selected from different blocks of vines here on our mountain, where the elevation ranges from 1,100 - 1,500 feet, where some vineyards face north and others south. Grapes are brought into the winery early in the day, whole-cluster pressed, and delivered to barrels in the cave by gravity flow. They ferment in French oak barrels and rest on the lees for 10 months before they are racked and bottled. The style is rich and complex, while maintaining high acidity and mature fresh fruit.

This is a cabernet that continues to evolve in the glass, unveiling its complexity and the elegant structure that has won the Lamb Vineyard high acclaim.
Lamb Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
One of my favorite Northern California vineyards is Napa's 12-acre Lamb Vineyard, which often produces wines with a character not dissimilar from a Bordeaux such as La Mission Haut-Brion. Fisher's 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Lamb Vineyard reveals that Bordeaux-like personality with notes of scorched earth/hot rocks, chocolate, black and blue fruits, and a strong mineral component. Beautifully made with excellent, concentrated fruit, this 2002 requires 2-3 years of bottle age. It should drink well for 15+ years. - Robert Parker
