Apex Cellars

Apex Cellars Apex Cellars - crafting premium Washington wine since 1988. Apex Cellars was launched in 1988 by Harry Alhadeff, one of the Northwest's most knowledgeable wine retailers and distributors, and Brian Carter, a winemaker of extraordinary depth and experience. The combination of Harry's knowledge and experience in the wine business and Brian's uncanny ability to combine the science and art of winemaking resulted in extraordinary wines - and extraordinary success. The first year's production of 22,000 cases sold out in 10 months. Today Apex Cellars is one of Washington's most respected wineries. Its three brands, Apex, Apex II and Bridgman, cover the spectrum from reserve-caliber wines to wines that can be enjoyed every day. Apex Cellars has one of the state's most enviable records for awards per wine entered in local, regional or national competitions. All of the winery's brands have received glowing reviews from respected wine experts here and abroad. Most important, Apex Cellars has become known as a winery you can trust — a producer of consistently good wine that can be served and enjoyed with confidence.

Apex 1998 Smith Canyon Vineyard Merlot
This remarkably dark-hued wine opens slowly to display ripe aromas of black-fruited berries and cherries along with cedar and spice. Similarly expansive, mouth-filling ripe flavors cling to the taste buds long after the wine is swallowed.
  Apex 2000 Kestrel Vineyard Merlot
Deep garnet in color, the wine displays a particularly attractive perfume of chocolate-cherries with additional floral and licorice notes. The wine builds on the palate to a full lingering finish.
Apex 2000 Klipsun Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
This wine’s color is impenetrably dark, with aromas that open to blackberry, cedar and chocolate with a touch of leather. Layers of fruit linger on the palate.
Apex 2000 Late Harvest Riesling (375 ml)
The dark golden hue is almost as enticing as the aromas of tea, honey and apricots, and the flavors of apricots and ripe nectarines. A firm acidity belies and balances the high sugar content. This is a great late harvest wine with time on its side.
Apex 2000 Solstice Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
A classic Washington Cabernet, this dark wine emanates rich aromas of cassis, eucalyptus, and cedar. On the palate are silky tannins and mouth-filling fruit.
  Apex 2001 Merlot
A beautiful dark ruby color in the glass, this Merlot radiates the varietal fruit that has made this grape a Washington standout. Sweet cherry is highlighted by oak spice, vanilla, and a hint of smoke, from the first whiff of the bouquet through the lush palate and soft finish. Round, supple tannins make this wine immediately enticing.
  Apex 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon
Dark and concentrated, this classic expression of Cabernet Sauvignon displays generous cassis and berry scents along with cedar and spice, smoke and dried leaf in the nose. These follow through on the palate with substantial weight and intensity. Certainly it is a wine worthy of aging, yet its supple, open style makes it a delicious wine to enjoy immediately.
  Apex 2002 Syrah
Impenetrably dark in color while bursting with fruit in the bouquet, look for raspberries, blueberries, and plums with hints of cinnamon, smoke, earth, and game. These elements show up again in the lush texture of the palate and the lingering finish, making this a wine to savor immediately even as we contemplate its delicious future.
Apex 2004 Gewurztraminer Ice Wine (375ml)
Savor the richness of this rarely-produced wine, from its luscious rose petal and peach aromas to its incredibly concentrated flavors. Picked early in January, 2004, this enticing dessert wine is marvelously ripe, perfectly balanced with bracing acidity, and succulently long on the palate.
  Apex 2005 Chardonnay
100% barrel fermentation, “sur-lie” aging in those same barrels, and 100% malolactic fermentation all combine with our carefully selected grapes to produce a wine that is poised between richness and elegance. Aromas include lemon zest, vanilla, butter and a touch of smoke. On the palate you’ll find classic apple laced with suggestions of pineapple, toast, and mango. These complex flavors linger in a smooth, supple finish.
  Apex 2006 Dry Riesling
This elegant Riesling has a lovely nose of white flowers, with a hint of apricot and lime. The palate is rich and well-balanced with complex, rounded citrus flavors and a touch of pineapple. Alsace in style, this dry wine truly calls for food.
  Apex II 2002 Syrah
Dark color and deep flavors dominate this Syrah: blueberries and blackberries, pepper and earth notes, sweet spice and smoke. Velvety and lush, it’s a wine for immediate enjoyment yet will reward a few years’ cellaring.
  Apex II 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon
You’ll find bold blackberry, blueberry, and cherry in this supple yet rich Cabernet, along with spicy oak and light notes of fresh herbs. These layers of flavor come from the addition of cabernet franc and merlot to the final cuvée.
Apex II 2004 Late Harvest Semillon
Succulently sweet with opulent flavors of honey, apricots, and pears, this charming wine displays an unusually seductive floral scent, especially of honeysuckle. The luscious sweetness is balanced by refreshing acidity. Residual sugar: 13.5% by volume.
  Apex II 2004 Merlot
Dark and unusually rich, this Merlot is more complex than most because of the cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon blended into it. The result shows sweet cherry, vanilla and spice, and hints of anise and chocolate combined in a velvety package.
  Apex II 2005 Chardonnay
Balanced and polished, this Chardonnay emphasizes ripe apple fruit touched with vanilla spice, butterscotch, and toasty oak; crisp citrus notes makes this beauty a complex, harmonious whole.
  Apex II 2005 Sauvignon Blanc
Bright and crisp with mouth-watering citrus notes, especially grapefruit and lemon-lime, not to mention melons, honeysuckle, and greengage plums, this refreshing wine is polished and smooth with a delicate touch of oak.
  Bridgman 2003 Syrah
With a color that’s impenetrably dark and enticing aromas of exotic spices, ripe fruit, and sweet cedar, this wine is truly seductive. Rich on the palate, with a soft, lingering finish, it’s a wine you’ll savor again and again.
  Bridgman 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon
Look for a wine with aromas of blackberry, sweet cherry, blueberry and cedar spice. All of these carry onto the lush palate and linger through the supple finish, making this a Cab that’s unusually easy to enjoy.
  Bridgman 2004 Merlot
Deep and dark in color, with inviting aromas of cherry and licorice, the lively berry fruit flavors touched with spicy oak make this wine a complex and delectable charmer.
  Bridgman 2005 Chardonnay
Butterscotch, ripe apples, citrus, vanilla spice and tropical flavors explode on the palate while a long, creamy finish balances all with mouth-cleansing acidity. This complexity is the result of oak fermentation, 90% malolactic fermentation, and extended lees contact.
  Bridgman 2005 Viognier
Exotic aromas of orange blossom, honey, peaches and spice precede an explosion of intense tropical flavors on the palate. The finish is dry in this full-bodied wine, crafted by combining half stainless steel fermented juice with half barrel-fermented (3- 4 year-old barrels).
