Iridesse Wines

Iridesse Wines The iridescent colors of the dragonfly capture the eye and the imagination. In much the same way as with color, the aromas and flavors of wine sparkle, glimmer, shift and change with each sip – iridescence of flavor. It is our pleasure to present, Iridesse Wines. Iridesse expresses the efforts of master growers and our careful winemaking to create small lots of unique wines. We are a rather unique wine company in that we focus on wines made from grapes that are not traditionally the best selling varietals like Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay or even from a particular heritage or growing region. In fact, we often select the vineyard before deciding on what kind of wine to make. Growers come to our attention through their reputations or from the excellence of wines tasted made from their fruit. We respect the winegrower’s efforts in cultivating extraordinary vines. Together with our winemaking, this partnership creates the delicious wine in a bottle of Iridesse.

Made in the tradition of Celtic Northwestern Spain, our 2005 Albariño is one of only a handful produced in California. Gorgeous fruit is brought in to our winery from the esteemed Bokisch Ranches in Lodi. It is gently pressed to stainless steel tank where it ferments and rests until bottling in early Spring. This classic treatment alows the true varietal character of this grape to show perfectly. Aromas of fresh stonefruits lead into bright acids, ripe melon, lemongrass, golden delicious apple, and tangerine peel. Considered by some to be the genetic parent of Germany's Rieslings, Albariño is less known but we hope it will come to be one of your favorites!
  Anam Cara
This wine truly expresses what we think of as Iridescence of Flavors. A perfume of fresh berries, lavender, and spice rises off of the deep dark purple nectar. What do you taste? Is it those little wild strawberries you find by the side of the road? Isn’t there also a bit of interesting, slightly musky, leathery richness? That big jammy fruit core comes from the bit of hand-selected treasures from 108 year-old Zinfandel vines in Calistoga at the top of Napa Valley. Classic Sangiovese acid finishes this wine with Tuscan elegance and a bit of lavender that comes the Mt. Veeder appellation of Napa Valley. Anam Cara means Soul Mate in Gaelic. The finish of this wine expresses so much of what we are and why we do what we do. It stays on the palate and you can ponder the flavors as they shift and change from on to another, leading you deeper and deeper… 85% Sangiovese, Mount Veeder, Napa Valley 10% Old Vine Zinfandel, Calistoga, Napa Valley 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, Calistoga, Napa Valley
