Reeder Mesa Vineyards

Reeder Mesa Vineyards Reeder Mesa Vineyards is situated in the foothills of the world's largest flat-top mountain, the Grand Mesa, at an elevation of 5600 feet. The first grapes were planted in 1994, and after receiving winemaking awards at the amaateur level, the winery was established in 2000. Doug and Kris Vogel are the owners, and Doug is the vintner/viticulturist. The Riesling that is grown and bottled here has been very well recieved, and boasts a light, crisp, fruity taste. Currently there are vintages of Colorado merlot, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon in production. Barrel samplings have been encouraging, and these wines will be exciting to feature to the public. Reeder Mesa Vineyards participates in Colorado Mountain Winefest and will have tastings available at this event. The winery/tasteing room offer spectacular views of the Grand Mesa. Land's End Road is nearby and is a Scenic Byway. For a country setting with a special charm, Reeder Mesa Vineyards offers facilities for small groups to come and enjoy Colorado wines.

Take Hwy. 50 South to town of Whitewater and go just past fruit stand. Turn left on Reeder Mesa Road and go 8 miles. Turn right at the sign onto a gravel road for 1/2 mile and the winery/tasteing room is located in the first building beyond.

  Cabernet Sauvignon
The Cabernet Sauvignon, with aromas of black cherry enhanced with gentle vanilla flavors, features a harmonious balance of fruit and oak.
Unoaked Chardonnay! Aged in stainless steel, this wine has a wonderful bouquet and boasts light citrus notes. Doug thinks the real varietal nature of the Chardonnay grape is expressed in this delicious wine.
Our Merlot is smooth and bursting with cherry and berry notes, accented with a bit of oak. It is great to drink now and will cellar nicely for a few years too.
The 2003 Shiraz won a Bronze medal at the 2004 Colorado Mountain Winefest.Full bodied and lush, with waves of ripe red cherry, currant, white pepper and toasty oak, this has been very popular with our customers.
  White Merlot
Our White Merlot is very popular and is made in the same style as a White Zinfandel. The juice of the red Merlot grape is pressed off the skins and then fermented in stainless steel. The color is a beautiful light red and this is a versatile wine that goes with anything from appetizers to entrees. This was a favorite at Winefest!
  White Riesling
Riesling is our most popular and best selling wine, and boasts a fresh, deliciously fruity flavor.
