Windgate Vineyard

Windgate began as a vineyard, then expanded to become a producer of fine, estate-grown wines. Currently, the winery produces and bottles over 8,000 gallons of wine every year. In 1974, we started the vineyards in Smicksburg, Pennsylvania - a tiny Amish community in Western Pennsylvania. We were vineyard pioneers in this part of the state, but luckily our vineyard's microclimate is nearly perfect for growing wine grapes. The elevation, western slope exposure, and persistent air drainage provide warming in the winter and cooling in the summer. Hours: Daily 12 to 5 except holidays.

Directions
From Pittsburgh, take Rt. 28 north to Kittanning and Rt. 85. Turn right onto Rt. 85. In 12 miles turn left onto Rt 839. At the sign reading 'Smicksburg - 3 miles' turn right. In Smicksburg, turn left onto Rt. 954 north and go 3 miles to Hemlock Acres Rd. Turn left and go 3 miles. From the PA Turnpile, take Exit 5. Follow the Rt 28 Expressway north to Kittaning and follow directions above.
