  Cabernet Franc
This attractive, purple-garnet wine "just shines in the glass." It had a fine nose of blackberries, eucalyptus, earth and smoky oak. The wine delivered full, fruity flavors of cherries and cassis, mingled with pepper, mint and cedar. Supple and balanced, the fruit stayed for the finale, wrapped in a curtain call of currants and tannins. Food seems to draw out the wines underlying mintiness, so a roasted lag of lamb seems to be an obvious choice.
  Syrah
The 2003 SMITH WOOTON Syrah nearly springs from the glass with fresh, ripe fruit and underlying spices. The intense, dark fruit fills the mouth and lingers long on the palate. Tannins are velvet smooth and the whole experience is one of luscious decadence! It's another masterpiece from Winemaker, Gary Wooton and Tanner Brothers Vineyard.
  Syrah
Youthful, almost buoyant scents of blackberry in this wine's handsomely composed aromas are seasoned by notes of mace, roasted meat and sweet oak, and the range and depth of the nose are reiterated in the blackberry- laden, spicy, almost cinnamon- tinged flavors that follow. Fairly weighty on the palate with plenty of tannin in attendance, this is one that will want savory meats if served today, yet can easily find a more rounded stance with cellaring.
