Granite Springs Winery

Granite Springs Winery Granite Springs Winery is located on beautiful, rolling granite hills near the historic Gold Rush town of Fair Play, California in spectacular southern El Dorado County. Les and Lynne Russell founded Granite Springs in 1981. The Latcham family bought Granite Springs from Les Russell in 1994. Granite Springs lies in the midst of an old and rich wine-producing region. Many Europeans who came to California's Sierra Nevada foothills during the Gold Rush, stayed and planted thousands of acres of vineyards and established over one hundred wineries in El Dorado county during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Granite Springs is part of the modern-day renaissance of wine making in the Sierra Nevada foothills. The Latcham family believes that our Granite Springs wines get their characteristic depth and flavor from a combination of our mountain-grown grapes and high standards of wine making. Our grapes are grown in a unique mountain terroir of 2,400-foot vineyards with deep, well drained granitic soils and a climate of warm, sunny days and cool nights. We combine modern technology and traditional methods of wine making to produce consistently distinctive wines. We are already known for our rich, intensely spicy red varietals such as our award-winning Petite Sirah, Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and red blends such as our Sierra Reserve Red. If you like rich, robust wines brimming with berry fruit, spice and pepper, you will love the reds from Granite Springs! The Latcham family invites you to come by and visit them in the tasting rooms at Latcham Vineyards and Granite Springs any time. Both tasting rooms are open daily, year round. Try our award-winning wines and taste the rich, deep flavor that comes from our mountain-grown grapes!
