Martin Vineyards
|
|
In 1977 the Martin family moved to Knott's Island. Upon their arrival, they started their farm with Peaches and Scuppernong grapes. It was a decade later in 1987 when they started planting Vinifera grapes. Little did they know when they started this crop that it would be the only successful and thriving Vinifera planting on the coast of North Carolina. In early 1994, this key component lead to the success of Martin Vineyards and Estate Winery. A year later they became licensed to sell their wonderful estate wines. There are other things that have made Martin Vineyards successful. North Carolina's coast of rich soil overlooking the scenic Knott's Island Bay has played an integral part. With the use of the most current and innovative technologies along with their viticulture techniques, they have been able to "farm for flavor." With all this and a little help from Mother Nature to control the climate, Martin Vineyards has been able to make award-winning wines. So bring the family, picnic lunch, and make a day of it!! Hours: Mon-Sun, 12-5 pm.
